Our Super Sauna Black Beast Sports Nutrition review uncovers whether this Fat Burner really is a contender for Best-in-class.
From the self-proclaimed “Strongest Name In Sports Nutrition” this Fat Loss Supplement hopes to cover all the key areas for Fat Loss but with one surprise omission.
Beast Sports Nutrition is a Boca Raton, Florida, based nutrition company who currently offer 20+ products including; pre-workouts, BCAAs and even Fish Oil.
Established by the husband and wife duo in 1995 this impressive company obviously has its sights set on competing with the best in the industry.
With a fairly small core ingredients to this supplement has this product managed to chose just the right number of additions for a killer fat loss supplement? Or is this just another underdosed and poorly produced product?
Off to a Bad Start
Unfortunately we have to start by telling you we have a big reservation about this product. This is due to the product having a proprietary (secret) blend. This means that the primary active ingredients are lumped together with a hidden dosage of each and just an overall total listed. Therefore when assessing the ingredients we can only generalize about their effectiveness and dosage. With that said let’s take a closer look at its claims.
Thermogenic Fat Burner to product sweat…
This Fat Burner claims to turn your entire body into a furnace, melting calories in the process.
The science behind this is that by heating your core body temperature you are naturally burning calories trying to cool yourself down. All of this happens without you needing to lift a finger. This heating behind the scenes is called The Thermogenic Effect.
The product mostly talks about you sweating rather than actually targeting Fat Loss. This is an important difference as any weight loss due to dehydration will just be put back on when you rehydrate. Not a benefit we like to see listed over actual targeted Fat Loss.
Boost your Metabolism and Enhance Blood Flow
Super Sauna Black claims to boost your metabolism so that you burn more calories.
This supplement will hope to increase the amount of calories you burn to maintain your body’s normal functionality. This base amount is called the Basal Metabolic Rate or BMR.
It also says it increases blood flow to ensure that you don’t lose energy while cutting the calories.
It is very important to keep your energy levels up while losing weight. Although this product doesn’t do this in the industry standard way. More on that later…
Eliminate Water Retention
This is a big claim, basically saying that by sweating more you will reduce ‘excess’ water which causes bloating and also a bit of duplication from the first claim.
We want to be targeting the fat not water.
Stated to feel the effects with 20 minutes and for them to last for a long period of time. They actually state that you will be sweaty for a long period of time, quite an unusual benefit of a product as we really want to be burning fat not just sweating.
A controversial omission. Caffeine is a very useful stimulant, especially when energy levels are potentially lower during fat loss. It is true that too much and you can feel very jittery, but too little and you won’t be getting the energy assistance you need during a rapid cut.
Not a fan of this being missed out entirely, we usually like to see something around the 200mg mark.
Grains of Paradise
Also known as Aframomum melegueta, this relative of ginger is used for its thermogenic effect.
Traditionally used for its digestive and intestinal health benefits it is now being included commonly in Fat Loss Supplements.
At the moment there is little evidence to show that this is an effective additive for Fat Loss. So a nice idea but not a proven fat burner.
This could easily be substituted for Cayenne Powder for an effective ingredient.
Gamma-butyrobetaine Ethyl Ester HCl
This addition is designed to increase the production of energy. It is included to boost the body’s own production of L-carnitine, an important component of energy production, and to improve circulation and brain health.
A very welcome inclusion on the list.
Also commonly listed as Black Pepper Extract or Piperine. This has been scientifically shown to reduce body fat, also known as Lipids, reduce bad cholesterol (LDL and VLDL) and also increase levels of good cholesterol (HDL)
This is a welcome addition as it can be consumed as a food stuff, but is too hard to consume in the high amounts daily. Another good addition to the ingredients.
Another good addition here. L-Carnitine Tartrate is useful for combating any energy loss and also helps with weight loss.
It is great for fat loss by contributing to the burning of fat as an energy source.
This burning of fatty acids also then frees up the energy potential of the fats and gives you additional performance.
A good level of Vitamin C is important for your general health. But there is no hard link with supplementing Vitamin C, if you are already getting enough, and any addition oxidation of fat.
This is more a nice all-purpose addition, but not a necessary one if you are eating well.
Another addition that is here just to make up the numbers. Sodium is key to a balanced diet but it is not something you will have to worry about.
If you have a western diet you will probably be already consuming your required sodium, if not likely more.
Linked to increasing your metabolism this is useful for increasing energy levels. Also good when you may be feeling a little weaker during fat loss.
It can also aid muscle grow for when you are hitting the gym during your cut. Again something we like to see.
The final way it can help is to prevent excess fluid retention. Not retaining unnecessary fluid, rather than the amount required, is useful for giving you a lean appearance. A good addition and a nice way to round off the ingredients.
How to take
This is an area where we feel this product really lacks.
The 5.29 oz / 150 g container holds 30 individual servings at roughly 5 grams per scoop.
Our opinion is that it is best to space out taking of fat loss supplements to ensure you are being supported at multiple times throughout the day.
We usually advise for supplements that require 3-4 smaller doses.
Spacing out your doses also means you are continually targeting fat loss rather than having one big kick.
As always we suggest you consult your doctor for any specific medical questions you may have.
However we have no complaints about any of the specific ingredients in this product.
We have a few complaints with this product.
The proprietary blend means that you don’t know exactly how much of the active ingredients you are getting.
The Vitamin C and Sodium are unnecessary and potentially just bulk, all in a product that has too few ingredients already.
The Grains of Paradise could and should be swapped for a proven Thermogenic ingredient. Something like Cayenne Pepper.
The primary selling-point is to sweat and not actually just to lose fat. If you just sweat but don’t actually target the fat when you rehydrate you will just put the ‘lost weight’ back on. We prefer fat loss to just being sweaty. If you want actual sweat go to a real sauna…
Overall a good attempt from a company we keep an eye on for good quality products, but one we ultimately know is not the best and can’t recommend.
We prefer caffeine in our products, dislike secret dosages of ingredients and have some issue with the way you consume this product.
We feel our Mancore product is slightly better than this, but certainly the best is Instant Knockout.
